PropHunt Rules
TSO PropHunt Rules
4.1 – Hiding Places
Props must hide in areas that are reasonably accessible to Hunters.
You may not intentionally:
- Glitch into walls
- Escape the playable area
- Hide outside the intended map
- Enter areas that Hunters cannot reasonably access
- Use map exploits to become unreachable
- Hide inside unintended map geometry
Props may use creative hiding spots provided that Hunters can reasonably reach the area and the hiding spot does not rely on an exploit or glitch.
4.2 – Ghosting
You may not provide information to another player that gives them an unfair advantage during an active round.
This includes information communicated through:
- In-game chat
- Voice chat
- Discord
- Steam messages
- Third-party voice communication
- Other external communication
Examples of ghosting include:
- Revealing the location of a Prop
- Revealing where a Hunter is searching
- Telling a player where someone died
- Identifying which prop is a player
- Giving information about a player’s hiding spot
- Communicating information obtained while spectating
If you are communicating with players outside of the game, you must not disclose information that could influence the outcome of the round.
4.3 – Teaming
You may not intentionally cooperate with the opposing team to gain an unfair advantage.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Giving away the location of Props as a Hunter
- Covering or protecting a Prop while playing as a Hunter
- Deliberately avoiding killing a Prop because they are your friend
- Allowing another player to survive intentionally
- Deliberately revealing yourself to help the opposing team
- Coordinating with the opposing team through third-party communication
Normal team communication and cooperation with members of your own team is permitted.
4.4 – Door Blocking
Doors must remain reasonably accessible.
You may not intentionally prevent a door from being opened or passed through.
This includes:
- Blocking doors with your player model
- Blocking doors with large props
- Repeatedly opening and closing a door to prevent someone from passing
- Using props to trap players behind doors
- Intentionally holding a door shut
Doors may be used normally as part of hiding or searching, provided they are not intentionally being used to prevent access.
4.5 – Prop Abuse
You may not use props to gain an unfair advantage or interfere with normal gameplay.
This includes:
- Prop pushing
- Prop surfing
- Using props to block players
- Using props to trap players
- Using props to obstruct map areas
- Moving props solely to grief another player
- Using physics interactions to gain an unintended advantage
Props should only be manipulated where doing so is part of normal gameplay.
4.6 – Spawn Camping
Players may not intentionally camp directly around the opposing team’s spawn with the purpose of preventing them from participating in the round.
Hunters must allow Props a reasonable opportunity to hide.
Props may not intentionally remain directly inside or around Hunter spawn areas where they cannot reasonably be reached or where doing so is intended to prevent Hunters from leaving spawn.
If a map has multiple spawn exits, players should not intentionally block or camp every available exit.
4.7 – Spawn Abuse
You may not use the opposing team’s spawn area to gain an unfair advantage.
This includes:
- Hiding inside spawn when it is not intended to be accessible
- Blocking spawn exits
- Trapping players in spawn
- Using spawn protection to avoid being killed
- Attacking players who are unable to reasonably defend themselves because they are still spawning
Normal gameplay immediately after leaving spawn is permitted.
4.8 – Intentional Damage Abuse
Hunters must not intentionally abuse the damage system to gain an unfair advantage.
This includes deliberately shooting large numbers of harmless props simply to reduce their own health or manipulate game mechanics.
Hunters are expected to search for Props and take reasonable shots at suspicious objects.
Normal missed shots and accidental damage to map props are not considered rule violations.
4.9 – Spectator Abuse
Dead or spectating players may not provide information to living players that could influence the outcome of the round.
You may not use spectator mode to:
- Locate Props
- Locate Hunters
- Identify a hiding player
- Communicate hiding spots
- Track players for your teammates
- Relay information obtained through spectating
Spectators must remain neutral and may not interfere with the active round.
4.10 – Taunt Abuse
Taunts are part of normal PropHunt gameplay and may be used to help Hunters locate Props.
However, you may not intentionally abuse taunts or related systems to:
- Crash or severely disrupt the server
- Spam sounds excessively
- Circumvent other rules
- Harass another player outside normal gameplay
- Use external communication to fake or manipulate taunt information
Normal taunting during a round is permitted.
4.11 – Team Switching
You may not intentionally switch teams to gain an unfair advantage.
This includes switching teams to:
- Avoid playing as a Hunter
- Avoid playing as a Prop
- Help friends on the opposing team
- Escape an active situation
- Manipulate the round outcome
- Repeatedly switch teams to disrupt team balancing
If the server automatically changes your team between rounds, this rule does not apply.
4.12 – AFK & Round Avoidance
You may not intentionally remain AFK to avoid participating in the round.
This includes:
- Going AFK to avoid playing as a Hunter
- Hiding in spawn to avoid playing
- Refusing to participate in the round
- Disconnecting to avoid a team or role
- Repeatedly avoiding gameplay until the round ends
If you genuinely need to leave, use the appropriate AFK or spectator system where available.
4.13 – Map Exploits
You may not intentionally abuse bugs, glitches, exploits, or unintended map mechanics to gain an advantage.
This includes:
- Getting outside the playable area
- Entering inaccessible map locations
- Becoming stuck inside map geometry intentionally
- Using collision exploits
- Bypassing intended map boundaries
- Using unintended physics interactions
- Exploiting map-specific bugs to become unreachable
If you discover an exploit, report it to staff rather than intentionally abusing it.
4.14 – Prop Locking
Props may use the normal locking or freezing mechanics provided by the gamemode.
However, you may not use locking or freezing mechanics to intentionally:
- Become unreachable
- Block a player
- Trap another player
- Enter unintended locations
- Gain an unfair advantage through map geometry
Locking yourself into a legitimate hiding position is permitted.
4.15 – Hiding During the Setup Phase
Props must use the setup period for its intended purpose: finding a legitimate hiding location.
You may not use the setup phase to:
- Enter unintended areas
- Escape the playable map
- Deliberately obstruct Hunters
- Exploit map mechanics
- Enter areas that would otherwise be inaccessible
Once the round begins, Props are expected to remain within legitimate playable areas.
4.16 – Delaying
Props must make a reasonable effort to participate in the round.
You may not intentionally delay the round by:
- Hiding in an inaccessible location
- Repeatedly exploiting the same hiding spot
- Running around indefinitely without engaging with normal gameplay
- Using map exploits to avoid being found
- Deliberately preventing the round from ending
Normal evasion and movement while being chased are permitted.
4.17 – Griefing
You may not intentionally ruin the gameplay experience of your own team or the opposing team.
This includes:
- Deliberately helping the opposing team
- Blocking teammates
- Intentionally revealing teammates
- Preventing teammates from playing
- Repeatedly disrupting normal gameplay
- Deliberately manipulating the round outcome
Normal competitive gameplay is not considered griefing.
4.18 – Fair Play
Players are expected to play PropHunt as intended.
You may not intentionally exploit loopholes in these rules or the gamemode to gain an unfair advantage.
If a situation is not specifically covered by these rules, staff may take action where behaviour clearly goes against the intended gameplay or significantly negatively impacts the experience of other players.
