TSO TTT Rules
5.1 – Random Death Match (RDM)
Random death match (RDM) is the act of killing or attempting to kill another player without a legitimate reason.
Players may only damage or kill another player when they have a valid reason based on the information available to them during the current round.
Valid reasons may include:
- Witnessing a player commit a traitorous act
- Being directly attacked
- Being identified as a traitor through legitimate game mechanics
- Being a Detective and acting on legitimate evidence
- Responding to an active threat
- Other circumstances clearly supported by the rules or gamemode
Suspicion alone does not automatically justify killing another player.
You may not kill someone because of:
- Personal dislike
- Previous rounds
- OOC arguments
- Their username or appearance
- Information from outside the game
- A player’s reputation from previous rounds
Accidental damage is not automatically considered RDM, provided it was not intentional or reckless.
5.2 – Accidental Damage
Accidental damage is permitted where it occurs as a reasonable result of legitimate gameplay.
You should take reasonable care when using explosives, weapons, environmental hazards, or other area-of-effect mechanics.
Repeatedly damaging or killing players under the excuse of “accidentally” doing so is not permitted and may be treated as RDM.
5.3 – Traitor Behaviour
Traitors are expected to actively participate in their role.
Traitors may kill innocent players as part of normal TTT gameplay and do not need to provide a roleplay reason for doing so.
However, traitors may not intentionally sabotage their own team or deliberately manipulate the round outside of normal traitor gameplay.
Traitors may not:
- Intentionally reveal other traitors
- Deliberately assist the innocent team
- Intentionally throw the round
- Provide information to the opposing team
- Work with innocent players against their traitor teammates
Normal deception and misdirection are permitted.
5.4 – Innocent Behaviour
Innocent players must make reasonable decisions based on information available during the current round.
You may not intentionally kill another player without a valid reason.
Innocents are expected to investigate suspicious behaviour rather than immediately killing players based solely on personal suspicion.
5.5 – Detective Conduct
Detectives have additional responsibilities due to their role.
Detectives must use their equipment and authority reasonably and may not abuse their role to grief or harass other players.
Detectives may:
- Investigate suspicious players
- Test players where appropriate
- Use Detective equipment
- Protect players where there is a legitimate reason to do so
- Lead or assist investigations
Detectives may not:
- Randomly kill players
- Abuse Detective equipment
- Deliberately obstruct innocent players
- Provide traitors with an unfair advantage
- Abuse their authority for personal reasons
5.6 – Identifying Traitors
A player may be considered confirmed or reasonably identified as a traitor when there is sufficient in-game evidence.
Examples include:
- Witnessing them kill an innocent
- Seeing them use a traitor-only weapon or item where applicable
- Witnessing them commit an action that can only be performed by a traitor
- Receiving legitimate information from a Detective or other game mechanic
You may not fabricate evidence or falsely claim that another player has been confirmed as a traitor.
5.7 – Suspicion
Suspicion is not the same as confirmation.
Players may investigate suspicious behaviour, but killing someone solely because they:
- Are behaving strangely
- Are following you
- Are near a dead body
- Are not responding
- Are using a particular weapon
- Have been suspicious in previous rounds
does not automatically justify lethal force.
Players should use reasonable judgement when acting on suspicion.
5.8 – Ghosting
You may not provide information about an active round to living players after you have died or otherwise left active participation.
This includes information provided through:
- In-game chat
- Voice chat
- Discord
- Steam messages
- Third-party communication
- Spectator chat
- Other external communication
Ghosting includes:
- Revealing player roles
- Revealing traitor locations
- Revealing Detective locations
- Revealing player positions
- Identifying who killed you
- Reporting information obtained while dead
Once dead, you must not influence the outcome of the current round.
5.9 – Metagaming
You may not use information obtained outside of the current round to influence your actions.
This includes information from:
- Previous rounds
- Discord
- Streams
- Spectating
- Death chat
- External voice communication
- Staff communication
- Other players who are not legitimately participating in the current round
Your decisions must be based on information your living player could reasonably obtain during the current round.
5.10 – Teaming
Players may not intentionally cooperate with players whose objectives conflict with their own role.
This includes:
- Innocents working with traitors
- Detectives assisting traitors
- Dead players assisting living players
- Deliberately protecting an enemy
- Agreeing to spare or kill players outside of normal gameplay
- Using external communication to coordinate opposing roles
Normal temporary cooperation between innocents and Detectives is permitted.
Traitors may cooperate with their fellow traitors as intended by the gamemode.
5.11 – Karma
You are expected to maintain reasonable Karma and avoid unnecessary damage to other players.
Repeatedly causing unnecessary damage, RDMing players, or otherwise abusing the damage system may result in punishment in addition to any automatic Karma penalties.
You may not intentionally manipulate your Karma or the server’s Karma system.
This includes intentionally dying, taking damage, or killing players to manipulate Karma-related mechanics.
5.12 – KOS
Kill on Sight (KOS) calls must be based on legitimate in-game information.
You may call KOS on a player when you have a valid reason to believe they are a traitor.
False KOS calls intended to cause innocent players to be killed are prohibited.
A KOS call does not automatically justify killing the person who made the call.
Players should be able to reasonably explain the basis for a KOS call when questioned by staff.
5.13 – KOS Abuse
You may not deliberately abuse KOS mechanics to create RDM situations.
This includes:
- Calling KOS on innocent players without justification
- Calling KOS on players because of personal disagreements
- Repeatedly calling fake KOS on friends
- Using KOS calls to manipulate other players into killing someone
- Making intentionally misleading KOS calls
Normal mistakes made in good faith are not automatically punishable.
5.14 – Body Identification
Players must not intentionally interfere with the identification or investigation of bodies in order to manipulate the round.
This includes:
- Moving bodies solely to hide evidence
- Destroying bodies to prevent investigation
- Intentionally blocking access to bodies
- Falsifying information about a body
- Preventing Detectives from reasonably investigating
Traitors may attempt to conceal their own actions as part of normal gameplay, provided they are not abusing unintended mechanics.
5.15 – Body Camping
Players may investigate or guard a body when there is a legitimate reason to do so.
However, you may not intentionally camp a body solely to bait another player into committing an action that would manufacture a reason for RDM.
Normal defensive positioning around a body is permitted.
5.16 – Traitor Equipment
Traitor equipment must be used as intended by the gamemode.
You may not abuse, exploit, or manipulate equipment to:
- Crash the server
- Break the map
- Become inaccessible
- Avoid normal gameplay
- Gain an unintended advantage
Traitor equipment may be used strategically to deceive or eliminate innocent players as intended.
5.17 – Detective Equipment
Detective equipment must be used responsibly.
Detectives may not intentionally:
- Waste equipment to grief players
- Block players with equipment
- Use equipment to create unintended advantages
- Give equipment to traitors where doing so deliberately assists them
- Abuse equipment to bypass normal gameplay
Normal strategic use of Detective equipment is permitted.
5.18 – Spectator Abuse
Dead players may not use spectator mode to provide information or otherwise influence the current round.
This includes:
- Following traitors to reveal their location
- Reporting player positions
- Identifying hidden players
- Communicating information to living players
- Using spectator tools to gain information for teammates
Spectating must remain passive.
5.19 – Voice & Chat Abuse
Voice and text communication must not be used to disrupt the round or circumvent other rules.
This includes:
- Mic spam
- Soundboard spam
- Excessive screaming
- Repeatedly playing loud audio
- Spamming chat
- Intentionally drowning out other players
- Using communication to ghost
- Using communication to evade the spirit of the rules
Normal communication and reasonable roleplay are permitted.
5.20 – Prop & Map Abuse
Players may not use props, map geometry, or physics mechanics to gain an unintended advantage.
This includes:
- Prop blocking
- Prop pushing
- Prop surfing
- Becoming unreachable
- Blocking important areas
- Using props to avoid damage
- Using physics exploits
- Creating unintended defensive positions
Normal interaction with map props is permitted where supported by the gamemode.
5.21 – Map Exploits
You may not intentionally abuse map bugs, glitches, exploits, or unintended mechanics.
This includes:
- Getting outside the playable area
- Entering inaccessible locations
- Becoming stuck intentionally
- Bypassing map boundaries
- Exploiting collision
- Using unintended map mechanics to avoid being killed
- Skipping intended gameplay
If you discover an exploit, report it to staff rather than abusing it.
5.22 – Spawn Camping
Players may not intentionally camp an opposing player’s spawn in a way that prevents them from reasonably participating in the round.
Normal movement around spawn areas is permitted.
You may not:
- Trap players inside spawn
- Block spawn exits
- Repeatedly kill players immediately after they spawn
- Abuse spawn protection
- Use spawn geometry to create an unfair advantage
5.23 – AFK & Round Avoidance
You may not intentionally remain AFK to avoid participating in a round.
This includes:
- Going AFK to avoid playing a specific role
- Hiding in spawn
- Refusing to participate
- Disconnecting to avoid a role
- Repeatedly avoiding rounds
If you genuinely need to leave, use the appropriate AFK or spectator system where available.
5.24 – Team Switching
You may not intentionally switch teams or manipulate team assignment to gain an unfair advantage.
This includes switching teams to:
- Avoid being a traitor
- Avoid being innocent
- Assist friends
- Manipulate team balance
- Escape an active round
- Influence the outcome of a round
Automatic team assignment by the server is not covered by this rule.
5.25 – Round Manipulation
You may not intentionally manipulate the outcome of a round outside of normal TTT gameplay.
This includes:
- Deliberately throwing rounds
- Intentionally helping the opposing team
- Repeatedly suiciding to influence the outcome
- Coordinating outcomes with friends
- Deliberately preventing the round from ending
- Abusing game mechanics to force a specific result
Normal traitor deception and strategic play are not considered round manipulation.
5.26 – Delaying
You may not intentionally delay the end of a round without attempting to progress the game.
Players who are the last remaining member of their team should make a reasonable attempt to locate and engage the opposing team.
Normal searching, hiding, and tactical play are permitted.
5.27 – RDM Baiting
You may not intentionally provoke another player into attacking you solely to create an excuse to kill them.
This includes:
- Repeatedly shooting near players
- Deliberately damaging players without killing them
- Following players while intentionally provoking them
- Making fake accusations to force a reaction
- Using game mechanics specifically to manufacture an RDM justification
Normal suspicious behaviour is permitted, but players may not deliberately manufacture RDM situations.
5.28 – Revenge Killing
You may not kill a player because they killed you in a previous round.
Information from previous rounds must not be used to influence the current round.
A player who killed you previously may only be attacked in the current round if you have a legitimate reason based on current-round information.
5.29 – Personal Information
You may not use personal or external information about another player to influence the current round.
For example, knowing that someone is a traitor because they told you on Discord or because you know their usual playstyle does not constitute valid in-game evidence.
Gameplay decisions must be based on information available within the current round.
5.30 – Fair Play
Players are expected to play TTT as intended.
You may not intentionally exploit loopholes in these rules or the gamemode to gain an unfair advantage.
If a situation is not specifically covered by these rules, staff may take action where behaviour clearly goes against the intended gameplay or significantly negatively impacts the experience of other players.
